Privacy

Couple English is a two-person speaking practice product for the US market, operated at en.huwo.ai. This page is the short, honest version of what we collect and why.

What we collect

Account identifiers (Apple, Google, or email). A display name, English level, timezone, and the goals you pick. Practice metadata: scenario, duration, scores, and transcripts needed to coach you. Optional audio, kept only long enough to score, then purged. Couple membership and the sharing choices you both agree to.

What we do not claim

We do not advertise end-to-end encryption for everything. Voice has to reach a speech service to be scored. Transport is TLS. Data at rest is encrypted (AES-256). Couple text notes can be designed for stronger protection; spoken audio is not in that category.

Sharing with a partner

Visibility is symmetric. A setting only applies when both of you have it on. Sessions you mark private still count toward the shared streak and do not show line-level detail to your partner.

Vendors

We use US-available providers for live voice, text coaching, and pronunciation scoring (currently Google Gemini and Azure Speech, with AWS as a fallback and for storage/email). We do not send product traffic to ByteDance / Doubao / Volcano model APIs.

Your rights

If you are a California resident, you may request a copy of your data or deletion from the in-app privacy screen, or by writing to hello@huwo.ai. Deletion is soft at first so an accidental tap can be undone, then purged after a grace window.

Children

The product is for adults. We store a birth year only as a 16+ gate. We do not knowingly create accounts for children.
